Older Windows

HexWar does not work, and I have Windows 95 or older

We do not support using HexWar on Windows 95 or earlier, but it may still be possible to use Windows 95 if you follow these instructions.

Windows 95 is an old operating system designed before Internet access was common. It is likely that your Windows 95 based system will need to have some free software upgrades installed before the 'HexWar Game Launcher will run.

Free Downloads from Microsoft

1. DCOM95 for Windows 95, version 1.3
2. Windows Socket 2 Update

Click the links to download these patches from the Microsoft web site. After installing one reboot before installing the second and again before installing the 'HexWar Game Launcher'.

Changes to the installation of the 'HexWar Game Launcher'

1. The system may report '... system updated' and stop before completing installation of the 'HexWar Game Launcher'.
2. If this is the case everything is ok but you will need to reboot the system.
3. Repeat the 'normal' steps in install the 'HexWar Game Launcher'. This time no reboots should be required
